Integrated Energy Solutions

GridSmart is an energy consulting firm specializing in energy procurement advisory services for large end-users of power and natural gas.

The deregulated energy marketplace is an arcane and extremely fluid environment; new products and services, or regulatory and technological developments, can alter the landscape in an instant. Therefore, we believe it behooves any organization responsible for managing significant energy costs to be constantly evaluating and assessing its current procurement strategy. GridSmart provides the specialized expertise our clients need to perform this task.

Featured Case Studies

Bergen County, NJ

In September of 2011 GridSmart was awarded the exclusive energy broker contract for the Bergen County Executive.  With a budget of $0.8 billion, the competition was fierce, but GridSmart came out on top.  After a month, we have already saved the County over $300,000, and that number is expected to rise substantially by the end of 2012.

Bergen County, NJ

In 2012 Bergen County expanded the scope of its contract with GridSmart to include the development and implementation of the Bergen County Aggregate Energy Procurement Cooperative Pricing System (the "BCPS").  The BCPS is an opt-in electricity purchasing group open to all 71 municipalities in Bergen County.  The NJ Department of Community Affairs approved the Cooperative in March of 2012 and 11 municipalities have signed on since then, including the two largest cities in the County - Hackensack and Paramus.

The first round of electric procurement alone is projected to yield more than $1.2 million in savings for the first 12 participants. Additional competitive electric and natural gas solicitations scheduled for 2012 will likely push that figure over $2 million within the next year.

Enterprise Bank

GridSmart contracted with Enterprise Bank to implement a comprehensive energy procurement strategy projected to reduce expenses by over $100,000 per year for 3 years. GridSmart also provides Enterprise with a web-based utility data management portal.
